A less-than-perfect date doesn’t have to be a complete failure. Despite any hiccups, there’s always an opportunity to walk away with a “result”. And by “result,” I’m sure you know what I mean.
Many years ago, I found myself in a tricky dating scenario, but surprisingly, it all worked out in the end. My date and I met for the first time in a pub’s car park. I followed my tried-and-true greeting method, as outlined in my e-book “Dating Dave: Thoughts on Love” (available on Amazon.com) to set the perfect flirtatious and intimate tone for the evening. Sadly, the pub was quite busy, and the only available table was situated right next to a group of four diners. The drinks arrived, and my date and I started chatting.
Everything was going smoothly… until I noticed a strange occurrence. Every time I spoke, a boisterous and obnoxious voice at the neighboring table would start speaking loudly. I listened closely and discovered that the large, port-drinking man was actually COMMENTING on everything I said! He was the leader of his group, bullying his guests into paying attention to him and his snarky remarks. Despite the polite laughter, it was obvious they weren’t enjoying themselves.
My date and I realized what was happening and decided to move closer together and whisper. This way, we wouldn’t make a scene and ruin the tone of the rest of the evening. This was a great opportunity for me to put my tips from page 162 of “Online Dating Tips For Men” into action. Whispering and getting close is one of the best ways to establish rapport and intimacy. That’s a pretty rude person in my book.
Our neighbor kept talking about us, speculating about what we were discussing, but my date and I were completely absorbed in our private conversation. Our bond grew stronger, and we even started holding hands. Eventually, the loud man quieted down, but it didn’t matter. My date and I had formed a tight connection, and we were in our own intimate world. Goodness knows if that man ever gets dates!
So even though there were complications, that first date ended up being a fantastic experience, setting the perfect tone for a second date. Sometimes, things beyond our control can go wrong on a date, but it can also lead to a stronger rapport and connection being formed quicker than expected.
