I had to think twice about writing this dating article. So, should you date a married woman? Purists would say “Sure, you can date a married woman, but only if she’s married TO YOU”. I get that. But I’ve also read the statistics that say that up to fifteen percent of married ladies are having affairs at any time… that means MILLIONS of girls are available for relationships “on the side” – which millions of men like. So what are the advantages and disadvantages to be considered?

Advantage of Dating a Married Woman 1: Great sex.
Married women willing to have an affair aren’t wanting love or romance. They want sex to replace the meaningless existence they feel they have with their stuck-in-the-rut man at home. So the sex is going to be great – because these ladies are committed to the sexual and not emotional relationship aspects.

Advantage of Dating a Married Woman 2: Guaranteed spice and mystery.
Dating a married woman has to be discreet for both sides, and secrecy adds spice to your relationship. Meet at motels for “lunch” or after work, or go away for the weekend. Each time you are together you’ll feel that you’re somehow “getting away with it” or “being a little bit dirty”. This could add a bit of luster or excitement to the relationship as a whole.

Advantage of Dating a Married Woman 3: No emotional entanglement.
A married woman having an affair with you would rather tell you less about herself and her situation than more. The more you know, the more she risks being found out. So you won’t end up having to get involved in dramas in her life – the opposite is most probably true.

Advantage of Dating a Married Woman 4: Inexpensive dates, no presents.
There’s not a lot to invest when dating a married woman, outside of paying for the motel and dinner. You can’t go to nice restaurants where any of her friends of former partners would go – so meals are likely to be in smaller out of the way places, or pizza hut called in to your bedroom. You can’t buy her expensive gifts or big flower bouquets either, because her husband could get suspicious.

Advantage of Dating a Married Woman 5: YOU look attractive.
If a married woman is willing to have an affair with you and risk all she has, you must be something pretty special! At the least, you’re an “alpha male” with real confidence (and therefore sexy).

So there are potentially many advantages for the man when dating a married woman, but there are some potential disadvantages here worth noting.

Disadvantage of Dating a Married Woman 1: Affair Discovered.
Her husband or partner could find out about the affair. A whole lot of things could happen from here. The affair could end very abruptly. There could be violence for her, or for you if the man knows where you live. She could end up having to divorce her long term husband or partner. None of these outcomes are good.

Disadvantage of Dating a Married Woman 2: Love hurts.
It’s very possible you could fall in love with the cheating woman you’ve been dating. If she does not leave her husband, you could end up very sad.

Disadvantage of Dating a Married Woman 3: She cheats.
Once a cheater always a cheater. This is a morals thing. If you see any woman for a long period of time you are bound to have some emotional attachment to her. And even though it’s an affair, and even though you’ve both called it “a bit of fun”, you may get more attached than you think – and even start daydreaming that one day you will be together. But then you find out she’s not just sleeping with you, but half of the other men in your locality. Maybe you’ll feel jealous, angry, upset. She cheated on him, so why shouldn’t she be cheating on you? Do keep this in mind. Of course you might also be cheating yourself…

Dating a married woman (or man for that matter) is a personal choice. There are some very good potential physical and psychological benefits for doing this if you’re someone that’s not too concerned by morals. But there are dangers and risks, including those of breaking up families and long term commitments, and getting yourself entangled and in love with someone you can’t have long term. My advice is to simply consider the advantages and disadvantages carefully, before rushing into this kind of relationship.
